Our first female president, Go Hyeon Jeong, got the highest award in the SBS 2010 Drama Awards, Daesang Award. Her acting in “Daemul” was so remarkable. I’m used to look her role as a fighter woman and I liked it, so girl power. She deserved the award indeed.

In addition to Go Hyeon Jeong, Kwon Sang Woo also managed to get the Top Excellence Actor (shared with Hyun Bin). In his speech, Kwon Sang Woo didn’t forget to say thanks to his son … Hohoho such a great dad! :)
And Hyun Bin said he was grateful to play in Secret Garden and got a very interesting role before he entered the (late) military service … ouch T_T .. I’m so sad to be reminded about his duty. That means he’s counting the days before entering military service.

Besides Daemul and Secret Garden, Giant and My Girlfriend is Gumiho also gained quite a lot awarded.

SBS Has Many Gentleman https://kdramachoa.com/sbs-has-many-gentleman-2/ https://kdramachoa.com/sbs-has-many-gentleman-2/#respond Fri, 10 Dec 2010 05:37:08 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=4313

Blessed SBS viewers! They are pampered by beautiful faces at the end of this year. SBS broadcast “Secret Garden”, “Daemul”, and “Athena: Goddess of War”, all dramas bring handsome faces, good bodies, and sexy ass: Hyun Bin, Kwon Sang Woo, Jeong Woo Seong, and Cha Seung Won.
“Secret Garden” and “Daemul” already running, but the “Athena” will be aired on December 13. I expect a lot from “Athena”, this drama could be more successful than “IRIS” because more handsome men are there.

“Secret Garden” and “Daemul” are so far quite successful due to Hyun Bin and Kwon Sang Woo. Their acting are very good, even comical. I amazed, especially for Kwon Sang Woo, in “Daemul” his character is dynamic and cheerful, quite different from his usual roles.

Dae Mul Episode 3 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/dae-mul-episode-3-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/dae-mul-episode-3-summary/#comments Sun, 07 Nov 2010 16:39:00 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=3455 This third episode was still an introductory for the drama. Well, at least that’s what I thought. The story line was quite slow, but I think Dae Mul does need a very firm premis since it’s bringing up such a heavy story idea.

After rejected by Hye rim and waited out side her house for quite a moment, Mr. President finally had a chance to ask her an apology in personal. He also handed Hye Rim her late husband’s belonging from the war. Her husband’s last note was an apology and a request to stay alive and take care of their kid well.

In that rare moment, Hye Rim critized as well as spoke out her aspiration directly to Mr. President. She asked for the president to value every single life of Korean Republic people. Mr. President of course knew what Hye Rim said was right and he promised her to do his best.

After unloading his own burden by meeting the controversial Seo Hye Rim, Mr. president could cheer up again. That’s when he decided to stop by at the ox soup restaurant run by Ha Do Ya’s father. I like the image of the president presented here: full of wisdom, thoughtful, charismatic and humble.

Meanwhile, after having a hard day facing a demonstration at his work, Ha Do Ya ran back home. That’s when he met Mr. President directly. They ended up sitting on the same table all together.

The demonstration done by the village people always demanded the same thing: to release the corrupt Kim Tae Bong, since he had promised the people in his campaign to overcome the horrible mosquito problem by developing the hundreds of acres of an unoccupied landside and mud field.  The land actually owned by congressman Kang Tae Sang’s father in law. However, due to some problem dealing Kim Tae Bong and Minister Lee Bae Ho the land was kept unoccupied for 30 years.

The land issue caused the area to be swarmed by mosquitos that lead to high rate in people and animal death within the area. Seo Hye Rim decided to take an action since the prosecutors seemed to misunderstand the demonstration. Ha Do Ya thought they’re Kim Tae Bong’s people who told lie stories. But Seo Hye Rim stood defending them. She did it by words and action: she did the fogging to the whole village herself.

However, one night Seo Hye Rim said to Do Ya that she didn’t hate Korean Republic. She only needed a country where she can raised her only child in a healthy environment and above all: safe! She said she’s going to migrate to Australia.

I love the way Do Ya’s character always called Hye Rim “ajumma” and their relationship was getting better. Do Ya didn’t admit that he had a feeling for Hye Rim when she asked him about that.

Ha Do Ya was invited by the minister at the Heritage Club, to discuss about Kim Tae Bong’s case. There he met the other leading characters. He met Jang Se Jin and they spent it for arguing one another. then on his way to meet Mr. Minister, he saw Seo Hye Rim and Kang Tae San, in the middle of discussing something.

Kang Tae Sang had been persuading Hye Rim to run for the short term election. His party needed people’s sinpathy while Hye Rim had aspiration to fight for. However, Hye rim refused and decided to just migrate to Australia.

On the day of Hye Rim’s going to Australia, Do Ya’s getting upset. He then did everything to stop her from going. He ran to the airport to tell Hye Rim she’s under arrest because her working hours community service hadn’t finished yet: 2 more hours. Ha Do Ya just taking the hard way of saying “Please, don’t go.”

Even though I thought this drama was kind of slow, but I kept looking forward of what comes next. So I guess i’m just continue with the sory..

Dae Mul Episode 1-2 Summary: A brief Introduction https://kdramachoa.com/dae-mul-episode-1-2-summary-a-brief-introduction/ https://kdramachoa.com/dae-mul-episode-1-2-summary-a-brief-introduction/#comments Sat, 30 Oct 2010 07:37:18 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=3415 I think it’s been quite a long time since my last Kwon Sang Woo’s drama. That’s why I thought I should watch the first two episodes of Dae Mul to find out whether the “feel” is still the same or not. And it’s also been quite awhile since my last drama summary. So I  think it’s time to start again? well, it depends on my first impression of this SBS drama… it’s been in the first rank since it’s first aired. And I’d like to find out why…

Dae Mul Leading Characters

So, let’s begin Dae Mul…

Everyone, please meet Seo Hye Rim (Go Hyeong Jeong), Republic of Korea’s first female president.

Yeah…our Mishil on The Great Queen SeonDeok from the ancient era has now become the President of the 21st century Jeoson. President Seo is powerful, beautiful, aerophobia, but has a softly-strong heart and an interesting past to tell about.

One day she was in the middle of diplomatic meeting with US diplomat when she got the news that 20 S.Korean mariners are about to die because their submarine got an accident. The next big problem was…the submarine was in People Republic of China sea territory.

The President went to PR China to make a quick action. she was bowing her head to PR China’s president and asked for Chinese government to help them help the mariners. She insisted on saving those 20 lives no matter how controversial her act was. And this action didn’t please the congressmen at all, especially Cha In Pyo. He’s form the opposition.

But where was Kwon Sang Woo?

To find him, the story had to go back in time…which confused me at first, but gave me the whole picture later on.

It was on that particular day, some years ago when they were all in their youth. Ha Do Ya, a boho boy who loves to hang out with older women and almost circumcised by her ox-tail-soup-man father, saw this particular girl on the bus, rehearshing her phrases for an interview: the young Seo Hye Rim. This girl looked so pretty, smart, full of confidence and seemed to face a bright future, while Ha Do Ya…hmm…i couldn’t stop laughing at his annoyingly bling bling suit.

Ha Do Ya – Seo Hye rim’s long fate then started on that bus, through an-ass-grabbing incident by a young jerk from the neighborhood. Ha Do Ya fought Kim Chul Kyu without knowing that this fight would change his life forever.

The boys were taken to the police station. Kim chul Kyu’s father was a congress man named Kim Tae Bong. Mr. Kim is one of that lousy congress men who used power for his own sake and treat small people like rubbish. He said he’s gonna put Ha Do Ya to jail for what he’d done to Kim Chul Kyu. But Ha Bong Do who loves his only son despite his desperation, begged Mr. Kim not to send his son to prison and to loose his future. Kim Tae Bong then told Ha Bong Do to lick the dirt on his shoe and Ha bong Do just did it. Yeah…that’s how much a father loved his son. And on that very moment, Ha Do Ya’s heart were crushed into  pieces and triggered a self revolution. He pledged that he’s gonna be a good son, a good student and pursuing a future career as a prosecutor to avenge his father’s humiliation.

Time went by…but wait, what about Seo Hye Rim’s life? She was success in the interview at the notable TV station at Seoul, but screwed up her first day as a news anchor. She was then stationed at a kid’s show and ran a hard life.

Ha Do Ya kept Seo Hye Rim in his mind (he had her picture in his thick law book) and planned on meeting her after he’s successfully accepted as a prosecutor. However, when they finally met again, Ha Do Ya had to accept that Seo Hye Rim was moving on her life and married to someone else. She ran a happy life…

The story then flew to two conflicts:

>Ha Do Ya’s trying to bring Kim Tae Bong down which caused lots of trouble to Kim’s highers that preparing for the up coming campaign. Cha In Pyo really upset with the situation and tried to get rid of Ha Do Ya from the surface;

>Seo Hye Rim lost her husband in Afghanistan and she became so depress. She then kept speaking out to public about her dissapointment to Korean government for not saving his husband’s life due to maintain S.Korean good relationship with the US. Cha In Pyo was also upset about this matter.

And their frontal brave action costed them their career: Ha Do Ya was sent to remote area while Seo Hye Rim was kicked out from the TV station.

Anyway…what about Lee Su Gyeong’s character, Jang Se Jin?

Unlike her previous character as a hillariously lousy police woman, Oh Ha Na, Jang Se Jin was a lady like and had the quality of a woman from high class society. What I meant was she talked and behaved very well mannered and speak in a soft tone.

She was sitting on the plane, heading to the homeland she barely stepped on: the Republic of Korea, bringing along her mother’s ashes. She came home for her mother’s last will, that’s what she told the man who sat next to her: Cha In Pyo. But no one actually knew her other plan: she’s gonna take a revenge to her own father… and she looked pretty serious with it.

Cha In Pyo and Jang Se Jin’s destiny just started there…

However, an accident on a rainy night brought her to meet Ha Do Ya. Her car crushed Ha Do Ya’s and their first moment was all the fight. Jang Se Jin has a unique character as rich girl who didn’t even know what’s the urge to say “sorry” when she made a mistake and Ha Do Ya couldn’t just let it go.

Back to Ha Do Ya and Seo Hye Rim…

Life then reunite them both again, though the fact was Ha Do Ya never lost track on her all these times. Ha Do Ya was stationed to a small  prosecutor office on a remote area due to his attempt on pursuing Kim Tae Bong, but he just never gave up his plan on bringing down that congressman. He also had Seo Hye Rim, whose life was quite a mess, worked in his office as a janitor. And they started to become real friends.

And it was a real surprise when Mr. President decided to meet Seo Hye Rim in person…and the story just began from there on.

My personal comment:

Even though it got a high rank among other weekday TV dramas, I still haven’t got the “feel” of how special this drama is. I mean, SungKyungKwan Scandal was quite entertaining with its light story while Domangja was surprisingly boring, and Dae Mul…I don’t know. I just think watching this 2 out of 26 episodes is just not enough for me to figure out where the story really lead us to. The idea was quite interesting and it’s quite brave to lift up such a sensitive issue as politics. Well, i guess the casts are very much a strong reason for people watching this drama. They believe those great names will give them a good show.

As for ladies…you’d be one of those screaming fans watching Kwon Sang Woo in these scenes:

I’m not saying it’s not a good show, but frankly it’s a bit heavy for an entertainment. I mean it’s a kind of show that will make your brain work a little bit to absorb the idea of the story. Well, that’s a plus point for me anyway. So I guess I’ll continue on watching it and hopefully will be able to write interesting summaries for this drama.

Lee Soo Kyeong is Joining “Daemul” https://kdramachoa.com/lee-soo-kyeong-is-joining-daemul/ https://kdramachoa.com/lee-soo-kyeong-is-joining-daemul/#respond Fri, 30 Jul 2010 16:26:39 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=1690

Recently completed project, “Secret Agent  Miss Oh “ (2010), Lee Soo Kyeong is likely to joined “Daemul”, the drama which is planned to release on late this year. Lee Soo Kyeong will be acting with Go Hyun Jung and Kwon Sang Woo.
This time she will appear very different from the usual role she played, like Oh Ha Na (she looks very ridiculous), in “Daemul” she would be a smart woman who involved in politics, she will emerge as a serious figure. Considering her opponent is Go Hyun Jung, I think it will give her a load. Well, good luck for Lee Soo Kyeong!
