Dream High 2 episode 3 started with Yoo Jin’s personal issue with JB on the dancing class. Yoo Jin said that just because they’re idols, they couldn’t just push away other students who had already been there before them. He’s referring to dorm’s new arrangement. And JB defended himself by saying that it’s not their fault because it’s the regulation that low rank students had to leave the dorm.

And to add some acid into the wound, the clueless Hae Seong slipped her tongue by saying that Yoo Jin also didn’t get any room anymore. Yoo Jin was upset and Hae Seong tried to apologize to him. Yoo Jin told her that she shouldn’t let those idol do this to the other students if she called herself the dorm’s leader.

And Hae Seong herself quarreled with Ri An in their room. Ri An put away all Hae Seong’s JB thingies and Hae Seong tried to defend them. But the fight ended up with Ri An winning.

Meanwhile Yoo Jin kept hijacking Yang Jin Man’s room where ever that shabby teacher slept at. This time Yoo Jin bribed him with lots of banana because Jin Man loved to eat it.

The students decided to make some action about the dorm arrangement. Hae Seong thought that JB would be thoughtful to help them with it or at least to  feel sorry about he’s getting the room while other old students don’t. But JB is such a jerk  that he had no care at all. So Hae Seong and other students tried to speak out their mind directly to their new school president because Principal Joo refused to help them. As expected, President Lee refused their demand coldly.

Ms. An’s eccentric teaching method stayed quite the same as before. This time she made the students compete to see who’s got the best breathing skill among the students. And the one who last the longest was Na Na (Hyeo Rin’s character).

Even though President Lee acted very cold to the protest students that morning, he eventually made a surprising announcement. He agreed to do it in a more “objective” way. All students had to compete in a duet performance competition. Those who pass could get the room. And President Lee pointed Principal Joo as the person in charge for this competition.

As Hae Seong was betrayed by Soon Dong for choosing Yoo Jin as her partner instead of Hae Seong, Hong Joo put himself on an auction to search for a partner. Hong Joo was well known for his good singing skill and he’s like a guarantee to pass the competition. Hae Seong did her best to give Ui Bong and Hong Joo the best offer, but when Ui Bong was about to decide that Hae Seong got the bid, Na Na stepped forward and offered Hong Joo her voice.

Ri An was such a loner that she decided to make a review on her own acting. JB came to talk to her and be her company. So it turned out that they kind of like each other (or it’s only JB’s one sided), but since they’re under the same agency and under the strict rule they couldn’t date. Ri An said that since they’re at school (out side the agency), should they start dating secretly?

Si Woo was out wondering around and then went to this club. JB was in search for him. Si Woo dragged away this drunk girl from the dance floor who seemed to be another celebrity he had a special relationship with. Si Woo said she should avoid anymore scandal. The girl said she’s the most searched woman in the internet.

This girl’s name is Kim Mi Joo and she’s a noona for Si Woo because she’s 22 years old. She belonged to a different agency, but seemed to have a special relationship with Si Woo. She’s rumored for being a mistress of someone famous that related to him as well.

JB couldn’t find Si Woo anywhere in the club so he walked down the street and found Yoo Jin was holding his street performance. JB challenged Yoo Jin if that one song all he only had, and Yoo Jin was about to sing his next song when JB suddenly took off his hat and people recognized him and forgot about Yoo Jin’s song just like that.

On the other side of the area, Si Woo was about to send the girl home when a couple of paparazzi shot some pictures of them. Si Woo chased them and broke their camera. They ended up in a fight.

Yoo Jin and JB walked together when they saw the scene. JB told Yoo Jin to just let it, but Yoo Jin couldn’t do that. They all ended up being involved with the fight with the two photographers.

In the dorm, Ri An seemed to get enough with Hae Seong that she lost her patient and kicked Hae Seong on the face. Hae Seong and Soon Dong were so scared that they moved to Ms.An’s room and asked her to let them stay for a night.

Hae Seong stayed up late and caught Yoo Jin sneaked in. They went to the pantry and Yoo Jin found a ramyeon and eat it raw. Hae Seong asked for a share. Seeing Yoo Jin’s wounds, Hae Seong put some band-aids on his face. And at that moment, Yoo Jin felt something strange in his heart towards Hae Seong.

Before leaving the pantry, Hae Seong told Yoo Jin that everything he said was right. She would do her best from then on.

On their way back to the dorm, they ran into  JB and Ri An. Hae Seong’s facial expression suddenly changed watching the scene, and Yoo Jin kind of noticed that.

In the morning, Yang Jin Man’s observed Yoo Jin’s face and woke him up by asking, “Yah, do you like men or something?” Yoo Jin (Jin Woon was shirtless again!) looked himself in the mirror and just realized that the band-aids Hae Seong put on his face are JB band-aids.

The school was visited by the policemen due to the fight last night. Rumor regarding JB and Si Woo being involved in a fight spread quickly on the internet. President Lee decided to save JB and kicked out Si Woo by transferring him to another school. Thankfully for Yoo Jin that he’s just dragged into the issue as a witness and the problem had ended with peaceful agreement (done by President Lee). But Principal Joo confiscated Yoo Jin’s guitar as his punishment.

Si Woo said to JB that him being transferred to another school was actually just about the time. He gave JB the confidential list he took from President Lee’s desk that contain the names of students to be expelled. Si Woo’s name was on the list. But JB was really such a jerk that he said he didn’t care at all about that and Si Woo shouldn’t feel so touched having him help him on the fight with paparazzi because it wasn’t because he really cared for him. JB tore the list.

President Lee turned out to be total jerk as well. He didn’t set up the competition because he agreed with the dormitory’s new arrangement. He actually use the situation to get rid of untalented kids. So the competition wasn’t actually group competition. It’s actually a competition between each duet partner. Partner competing each other. It’s a very bad situation and President Lee made Principal Joo to be in charge for such a cruel competition.

Outside the office, Yoo Jin confronted JB for what happen to him and the ending of the fight. JB said they had settled the situation with money because they had a lot of money. “Why? You don’t have money?” mocked JB. “If you don’t have any, i can lend you some.”

Meanwhile Ri An was in her own problem. She was thinking about moving to another agency and had met the president from another agency earlier with her mother. But then she felt that President Lee kind of knew about it, so she was afraid. And at the end of the episode, she made a surprising decision. She came to Hae Seong and say, “You haven’t got any duet partner, right?” Hae Seong had been searching for partner but no one wanted to take her in. “Let’s be partner with me.”

Dream High 2 Episode 2 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/dream-high-2-episode-2-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/dream-high-2-episode-2-summary/#comments Thu, 02 Feb 2012 10:33:05 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=17405 Dream High 2 episode 2 started with all JB’s fans in Kirin gathered in front of the broadcasting room because they heard JB and Yoo Jin’s fight. Yoo Jin couldn’t get himself out of the crowd, but JB was finally got help from President Lee.

After the broadcasting room incident, Hae Seong found herself publicly humiliated because Yoo Jin uploaded her embarrassing picture on the school’s announcement TV. Even Park Hong Joo put that picture as his mobile’s wallpaper. He said he bought 500 won to download it from Yoo Jin.

Hae Seong confronted Yoo Jin in his dorm room. She was the dorm leader, so she thought it was fine to burst in boys room. Ui Bong couldn’t do anything when the incident took place. Hae Seong blamed Yoo Jin for all unfortunate things happened to her. Fortunately for Hae Seong that moment, her mitten got caught on Yoo Jin’s ear stud. So Yoo Jin had no choice but to move along with Hae Seong’s excercise-like movement. In short, she bullied him.

“But you’re the one who couldn’t make a good song arrangement,” Yoo Jin tried to defend himself.

Then Hae Seong argued that JB had helped her, but Yoo Jin got rid of it. She said that JB’s musical quality was better than him. Yoo Jin was seriously offended by these words. He shrugged Hae Seong’s hand away and didn’t care about his ear lobe bleeding.

Yang Jin Man arrived at the crime scene and gave both Hae Seong and Yoo Jin a punishment: getting rid of chewing gums stuck on the school’s front yard in the morning. Yoo Jin was still angry at Hae Seong, but soon they’re facing a bigger issue than themselves. The press suddenly swarmed behind them. Oz Entertainment brought all their minor idols to school.

Funny thing happened when a reporter called out, “Hey pretty student, look here!” In this case, probably the reporter was aiming at one of HerShe’s members, but since Hae Seong was closer to the reporter, she’s blushing and turning around to the press…while Yoo Jin spontaneously argued, “She, you called pretty??” And their funny expression was captured for the media. :D

All Kirin students were so enthusiastic having their favorite idol groups as part of the family. They’re watching the school’s announcement TV seriously when Yoo Jin came out of nowhere and turned it off. He really made himself be the public enemy.

President Lee kept Principal Joo at his station, but since Oz Ent. had taken over Kirin’s ownership, he had set new rules for the students. No cell phone during school, no dating among students, no playing basket ball or any games that could cause injury, and so on and so on. Among all students, only Hae Seong who was determined to obey all the new rules. She said that’s what they need to do if they wanted to be hired as Oz Ent. singer.

Hearing the idols were gonna stay in the dorm, Hae Seong organized her friends to throw a welcoming party for them. And yes they did. All students dressed up in funny costumes and started the welcoming of JB, Ri An and other Oz Ent. idols. They sang T-Ara’s Roly Poly, then 2NE1’s I’m the Best, and G-Na’s Top Girl…the musics were fun!

The musical party ended up by students snatching the idols stuffs. Hae Seong got a CD from JB’s stuffs that brutally robbed by other students. Thankfully Ms. Ahn came and helped JB out. She was the new Dorm Supervisor, taking Yang Jin Man’s place.  Soon Ms. Ahn announced the new room arrangement since they had new students coming.  Students who failed the semester had to  get out of the dorm, and surprisingly Hae Seong was one of them. Despite her determination in study and being the most likable student, her grades were the lowest among all. Hae Seong was so sad.

And she wasn’t the only one kicked from her station. Yang Jin Man lost his place as the dorm supervisor. President Lee evaluated him as incompetent for his work. Since he had no where to go, the farthest he could reach was the janitor’s room. Yang Jin Man felt so humiliated. He remembered the moment when Kirin’s original president (Bae Yeong Joon’s character) came to his house and personally invited him to teach in Kirin. He also remembered his memories with Hye Mi’s class year…oooh, what a cruel life for him.

Feeling sad and disappointed, without any room to sleep at Hae Seong came into the audio visual room. She remembered the CD she snatched from JB’s bag and thought it was a very good song (since the CD was written “GOOD”) so she played it. It turned out to be a classical adult movie. JB in his room freaked out knowing that limited edition CD had gone.

Awaken by the noise, Yoo Jin who slept in that recreation room teased Hae Seong if they should watch it together. Hae Seong send him out. Yoo Jin said she could sleep on his couch since he had heated up the room.

And Yoo Jin found himself comfy in the president’s room. President Lee and Manager Hyeon came in and found him there. President Lee made some notes about some students earlier and it disappear. They accused it had to be Yoo Jin, but the boy was innocent. Principal Joo came picking up Yoo Jin, and that made President Lee and Manager Hyeon suspect him as the real thief.

With new rules, the students had to scanned before they enter classes. All forbidden stuffs were not allowed to get in. Besides new rule, they also had new curriculum and new classes. And they started the day with dancing class. The sexy Manager Hyeon was the teacher.

She showed the demo. The idols danced perfectly, while other students like Hae Seong, Soon Dong and Hong Joo danced awkwardly. Yoo Jin didn’t even move his feet.

The strict Teacher Hyeon scolded them, and Yoo Jin argued her back. He said it’s kind of normal for these kids to fail following her dance since its their first time. Hyeon Ji Soo said if they couldn’t dance they could leave her class.

Few students stay, and one of them was Ui Bong. He had a personal issue with JB. He challenged him a battle dance. And JB accept his challenge.

The battle dance ended up with Ui Bong tripped his step and couldn’t get up again, while JB kept on his offending dance. Yoo Jin came back on stage to help Ui Bong. He was about to throw a fist to JB, but Ui Bong held him.

While the tense was high in the dancing class, Si Woo was at the school roof top. He was actually the real culprit who took President Lee’s notes about some students. Si Woo found his own name.

JB-Ui Bong battle dance ended up to be Yoo Jin’s personal issue with JB. JB couldn’t lose his pride as an idol, while Yoo Jin couldn’t lose his either as an idealist musician. Their competition is more tense than the old Jin Gook-Sam Dong competition.

The whole week package of this drama have completed. In comparison with Dream High 1, Season 2’s opening and introduction is more fun and cheerful. We got more focus of characters in this season: the lovely clueless Hae Seong, the idealistic bad temper Yoo Jin, the s0-idol JB, the determined reckless idol Ri An, the cute dancer Ui Bong, the funny con-artist Soon Dong, and the mysterious Si Woo. Unfortunately for Hyeo Rin’s character Na Na is not very unique. She’s just the lovely and friendly idol, without any certain issue…yet.

If I have to review this drama and give a rank, I think 7 out of 10 is enough.

Dream High 2 Episode 1 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/dream-high-2-episode-1-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/dream-high-2-episode-1-summary/#comments Wed, 01 Feb 2012 09:09:21 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=17299 The first 15 minutes of Dreamhigh 2 wasn’t that alluring, but as I continued on watching the show, it’s quite interesting.
The drama started with Sam Dong-Hye Mi’s last kiss scene. Surprisingly the girl wasn’t Suzy, but T-Ara’s Ji Yeon. I was about to say “It can’t be!!!” but there’s a sound of “CUT! NG..” So it turned out to be a filming. What the..
Anyway, Ji Yeon’s name here is Ri An, and she’s part of the girl group HerShe along with Na Na (Hyeo Rin) and Ae Ri.

As idol groups keep booming, the government of South Korea has set the rule of banning any under age idol/performers to perform beyond 10 p.m.  In KBS song festival, Manager Hyeon (Ka Hee) was complaining to the crew that Eden would perform despite one of the member didn’t come yet and it was almost 10 p.m. KBS crew put HerShe on the stage instead.
Si Woo finally came and JB decided they should just perform despite the restriction by law. It’s their comeback single and the fans were waiting for them. Thanks to Shin Hae Seong who broke into back stage to ask for authograph from any celebrities, especially JB because she’s a big fan, JB used her to help him lock his own Boss, so he and Si Woo could perform.

So the rule was broken. Unfortunately, among Eden’s dancers there was Jeong Ui Bong. He’s also a minor. Because he also performed above 10 p.m, he was fired. Ui Bong confronted JB for being selfish and reckless, but JB acted just cool.
Meanwhile on the other part of the city, Ui Bong’s friend, Jin Yoo Jin was doing street performance when policemen approached him and asked for his ID regarding the new law. Yoo Jin managed to run away.

Hae Seong, Yoo Jin and Ui Bong are Kirin School’s students. Hae Seong and Yoo Jin came late to the school dorm. Hae Seong was the one who sneak in and open the door, but Yoo Jin got his way and Hae Seong was caught by the teacher.
She had to do a detention the next morning.

On Yang Jin Man’s room, that shabby teacher woke up on the floor while his bed was hijacked by Yoo Jin. ( Okay, Jin Woon was trying to show his abs :D ) Yoo Jin was the kind of rebel and easy going yet genius student. He always came late to classes and he sells music arrangements to students for homework submissions. His passion was to become a rock star and he’s the anti-idols.

JB’s action cost the agency got hold for all its idols to perform in KBS and many TV stations.
JB told his boss that the reason Si Woo was late was because he found that their new single was plagiarized and it wasn’t the first time.
Then he told his boss that he wanted to do the real music and went solo. Si Woo thought JB was back stabbing him, but JB was kind of angry with Si Woo because Si Woo was the one who’d been selfish these whole times.

The clueless Hae Seong was fooled by her friend,Soon Dong, to perform a shaman ritual to help her succeed with her audition. The ritual required the burning of authographed-by-celebrities yellow papers, so it caused smokes. Yoo Jin who just came back to the dorm told Ui Bong to ring the fire alarm while he was trying to wake up Hae Seong.

The students and Yang Jin Man ran out of the building, but eventually came back inside to help Hae Seong. While Hae Seong kept on going her ritual. And when Yoo Jin finally succeeded to break open Hae Seong’s door, Jin Man and other students spontaniously threw the water towards Hae Seong. So the girl was a total mess. And Yoo Jin couldn’t hold his laughter.

Hae Seong went to audition in Oz Ent., where HerShe and Eden were their idol groups, but they didn’t accept minor anymore.
Manager Hyeon rejected Hae Seong coldly with harsh words even when Hae Seong begged her to be auditioned. Hae Seong was offended and swore that Manager Hyeon would regret everything she said to her.

After dealing with her unseccessful audition, Hae Seong had to face her nagging father. As a pastor’s daughter, Hae Seong had only two choices: being successful with her modern pop music in Kirin and hired by top agency OR go to theological school and sing for God.
Hae Seong refused the later and told her father that she had converted to shamanism.

President Lee Kang Cheol, JB’s boss, and Manager Hyeon discussed about sending their idols back to school.
Manager Hyeon told their option was narrowed and it left only Kirin. Eventhough within 3 years after Kirin’s President (Bae Yeong Joon) left for abroad and the school was trusted to the current principal and has changed into a shabby school, it still has its past fame and credible alumni. President Lee and JB decided to take a look at the school.

While President Lee was meeting his senior, who is Kirin Principal’s Joo Jeong Wan, JB looked around and saw Hae Seong was begging Yoo Jin to help her with the song arrangement. Yoo Jin refused at first because he knew HAe Seong would send them to idol group’s agencies, but he eventually agreed to take a quick listen.

After listening to the song, Yoo Jin was firm that he wouldn’t help Hae Seong. He hate her craving to become an idol.
“Idols are like dolls, but in fact we’re human not dolls. If they can’t sing, they go lipsync. If they can’t dance, they open their shirt. They’re told to have the same smile, the same gesture. Don’t you feel it’s disgusting? You don’t want to be a singer, you just want to be famous.”

JB heard all that and felt offended. He, whose name was actually Jang Ho Jae, and Yoo Jin were actually auditioned for Kirin together, but at that time, Yoo Jin’s musical quality was above him. JB decided to offer a help to Hae Seong, but his work was then intentionally erased by Yoo Jin.
Yoo Jin kept mocking JB as an idol, and JB challenged him, “If you think you are that good, why don’t the world recognize you?” And all their arguments was broadcast to the whole school because they accidently turned the microphone on when they fought.

Yoo Jin was about to hit JB, but Hae Seong tripped his step.

After watching the whole first episode of Dream High 2, I think this drama is quite entertaining. The best performances so far were only 2AM Jin Woon, Kang So Ra, Park Jin Yeong, Kim Jeong Tae and Kwon Hae Hyo (yeah, last both are seniors). Ka Hee was quite good, too. The story line is quite different from the Dream High 1. And teenage romance is not the main focus here. We still cannot grab who’s gonna fall for whom yet. But the week episode package is not yet complete without episode 2. So i’m gonna have another try with episode 2.
