The Equator Man Episode 6 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-6-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-6-summary/#comments Sun, 08 Apr 2012 09:05:22 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=20713 The Equator Man episode 6 started when Ji Won asked if Seon Woo remembered her. Finding out that the man was blind, Ji Won thought that Seon Woo might be someone else. But when he asked the woman at the registration, she found out that Seon Woo might be the same person because that guy was from Busan and lost his eyesight because of an accident not long ago.

Jang Il’s father was planning to come up to Seoul, but Jang Il prevent him saying that Seon Woo and the other friends from Busan were in the house. Jang Il’s father got panic and told him that he would go there and made Seon Woo left soon. Jang Il said, “Let’s not do that, Father. We had got punished.”

Soo Mi said that she couldn’t accompany Seon Woo the next day and Geum Jool had to find a place for Seon Woo. She asked Jang Il to accompany Seon Woo to the school (for the blind). At first Jang Il refused it, but Soo Mi made him had no choice but to agree to accompany Seon Woo the next day.

On the train station the next day, the evil Jang Il was back. He let Seon Woo walked pass the safety line on the platform while the train was approaching. Seon Woo’s fast response made him jumped back and he was so shock that he was trembling. In the same time, he just realized that Jang Il could be that heartless and tried to let him die for the second time.

In Busan, Soo Mi’s father was attacked by some ladies for he had sold a fake talisman to them. Being cornered, he promised to give the money back to them, but the problem was he had none. So he decided to write the blackmail letter he couldn’t finish long ago.

At school, Seon Woo found an interest in literature. The audio books are narrated by Ji Won, who also the librarian. He recognized Ji Won’s voice at the library counter as the Hemingway. He asked her to give her a list of what books the library had because he wanted to borrow them. Not knowing how to read Brailles, Ji Won read them for him.

Jang Il promised to waited for Seon Woo after school at exactly 5 pm. But it was almost 6 when Seon Woo was out of school, but Jang Il wasn’t around. He intended of never come to pick him up. Seon Woo was about to catch a taxi when Ji Won saw him. She helped him until they arrived in Seon Woo’s place. What they didn’t know was Jang Il was actually following them from behind.

Jang Il asked Ji Won to stop her work at that school for the blind and started to spend more time with him. Without he really realized it, Jang Il just reveal his individualistic persona and the way he tried to control Ji Won made her felt offended.

Jang Il never came home that night. He went to buy a guitar and came to Ji Won’s place very early the morning. He gave the guitar to Ji Won and told her to only sing “Moon River” for him and never played the guitar for other people but him. “Can you just like me only?”

Jang Il was in a drunk condition that Ji Won had to bring him home that morning. In the same time, Jang Il’s father came and saw it. He misunderstood Ji Won which later made him offended Ji Won by telling her not to get closer to Jang Il, not even see him.

Jang Il’s father was very angry that he had given everything for Jang Il to be success while the son just drinking and making girlfriend instead of study hard. That made Jang Il said angry and said he was sick of him. “Who told you to be Mr.Jin’s dog? I’m so sick of Seon Woo and you.” His words hurt his father’s heart so bad. And one thing he didn’t know was, that day, Seon Woo was listening from the room. He didn’t go to school because he caught a fever.

When  Seon Woo suddenly came out in the afternoon, Jang Il couldn’t hide his shock. But Seon Woo pretended he was listening to the audio novel and didn’t knew Jang Il was there. He didn’t notice Jang Il until Jang Il put off the earbuds from Seon Woo’s ear. He even checked on the audio book, really scared if Seon Woo was lying. But hearing the audio book was playing, Jang Il asked Seon Woo to drink some alcohol together.

Jang Il got drunk and Seon Woo slipped his tongue by saying something about the words he had written in the presents he gave to Jang Il, which he heard from Geum Jool was used by the security guard who picked them form the garbage place. Jang Il was suspicious if Seon Woo was lying about his memory lost and even his blindness. Then he went crazy by attacking Seon Woo and got angrier when Seon Woo didn’t fight him back. “Where’s the old Seon Woo who was best in fighting??”

That afternoon, Seon Woo had a clear conclusion: His father knew Mr. Jin. He went to Mr. Jin’s house that day. Mr. Lee had become Mr. Jin’s slave. Jang Il got the scholarship and prosperous life in Seoul. Jang Il hit his head and threw him off the cliff. “Jang Il, I will never forgive you.”

Mr. Moon arrived in Seon Woo’s place and found it empty. He planned to stay longer in Korea until he found the child he called his son. However, he actually knew clearly that the kid wasn’t his. That day, what Mr.Jin heard wasn’t the whole conversation. The woman said the kid was actually Mr.Jin’s, but she knew he never really loved her and she was afraid that if he knew about the child, he would told her to abort it. “I wish the person I love was you, Tae Joo.” The words hurt Tae Joo, but that’s the fact. And soon Tae Joo was set up by Mr.Jin that he made him go to jail for a long time.

Back to school for Seon Woo, it was the school outing. While the others were enjoying the togetherness, Seon Woo decided to have a time of his own. Ji Won noticed him and called out for hi, but when she was approaching him, she tripped her step and hurt her ankle.

Seon Woo insisted to piggy back her to the clinic. Ji Won refused, but as Seon Woo suddenly lifted her on the front, the choice were only on the front or on the back, because no matter what, Seon Woo was carrying her. Ji Won finally agreed to be piggy-backed by Seon Woo. “Now I’ve become you legs, and you are my eyes.”

Ji Won gave her directions telling how many steps straight or left or right and which was the tree. But at a moment, Ji Won was distracted by Seon Woo’s face that it made Seon Woo hit the tree. “Don’t just stare at my face, please look ahead and tell me the direction.” :D It’s kind of embarrassing to get caught by a blind person that you were staring at his face, isn’t it?

The next day in the library, Seon Woo asked Ji Won if the books he requested were already available. She said the libraries couldn’t provide them since they’re not in the priority list. Then Ji Won offered him an idea: she would read them for him live. Seon Woo loved the idea and he couldn’t stop smiling listening to the story. He really enjoyed Ji Won’s reading and Ji Won was happy seeing Seon Woo’s cheerful face.

In the same time, Jang Il was looking for Ji Won to the school for the blind. He was climbing up the building when he finally heard a very familiar song from a guitar playing. He opened the room’s door and saw Ji Won was playing “Moon River” with a guitar, but Seon Woo was sitting right in front of her. She’s singing the song for Seon Woo and the guy seemed to really enjoy it.

Jang Il came into the room and stood right between them, staring at both Ji Won then Seon Woo.

The Equator Man Episode 5 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-5-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-5-summary/#comments Sat, 07 Apr 2012 12:58:15 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=20674 The Equator Man’s story is getting more interesting. Seon Woo had actually never lost his memories. His head might be injured severely, but that didn’t make any degradation to his IQ.

Seon Woo was very hysterical finding out his blindness. He went out of control that the doctor had to put him in another ward and tied him on the bed. Watching the scene made Jang Il felt sick. I think it’s a combination of guilty, shock, and fright all in the same time. He didn’t even say hi to his father when he passed his father by on the market. He swore he’s never come back to Busan anymore.

It took sometimes for Seon Woo to accept his blindness. When he was ready to be discharged from hospital, he had his loyal friends, Soo Mi and Geum Jool helped him going back home. However he had been discharge, his psychological had not been much better yet. The depression was still there. Especially when he got home, thought his father would be there, and then he felt like a useless person without his eyes sight.

His emotion was more unstable with the visit of Jang Il’s father. He’s visiting him and brought some foods, too. Seon Woo asked why and how he got to his house. Mr.Lee said that he was Jang Il’s friend and they’re neighbor and he used to visit him and brought him foods too. Then all the things in the past, the coincidences of the lost suspicious letter the next day after he had dinner in Jang Il’s house, and Jang Il’s father’s suspicious sudden visit.

Seon Woo screamed for he had a terrible headache every time his memories came back. Mr.Lee was crying and that made Seon Woo asked cynical, “Mr.Lee, why are you crying?” Mr.Lee just left. Seon Woo was very frustrated to the fact that Jang Il and his father were likely the arch villain, the evils behind all the accident happened to his father and him. He kept asking to himself how could Jang Il did all that to him, they were best friends.

Soo Mi called Jang Il to come to cheer up Seon Woo. She said might feel much better if his best friend pay a visit and cheer him up. It seemed that Soo Mi still liked Jang Il. She looked enthusiastic calling Jang il, while the man on the other line looked tense. His excused was that he was very busy preparing his bar exam soon.

Geum Jool accompanied Seon Woo to visit his father’s workshop building on the mountain. Then Seon Woo remembered the day when he found his father’s body hanging on the tree. All the memories were back and they’re clearer now to him. The way the letter was missing, the way Jang Il suddenly changed his mind that night, the way Jang Il knelt before him that day, and the reason why he did what he had done to him…he could see it very clear then.

Mr.Jin was on his way to Seoul when he saw Seon Woo and Geum Jool on the street, trying to catch a taxi. He remembered about the old days. He had a beautiful girlfriend. They’re in love and everything was fine until he introduced Moon Tae Joo to his girl friend. He caught them getting closer and one day he witnessed that the girl told Tae Joo that she was pregnant and she was confused if she had to tell Jin or not. From that day, he hated them both and tried erase his heart break from his memory.

Seon Woo’s condition was making his loved ones frustrated. Then Mr.Choi tried to talk to Seon Woo, in his provocative way. He knew Seon Woo was just pretending not to remember anything and then tried to provoke him, saying that his accident might not be an accident.

Meanwhile in Seoul, Jang Il was still pursuing Ji Won, but she’s still accept him as a friend. Ji Won was still busy with her school and part time jobs. But one day, Jang Il asked him to watch a movie together. Jang Il secretly helped her work in the library, Ji Won saw it and finally came to the cinema. Since she was very tired, she fell asleep on Jang Il’s shoulder. Jang Il let her sleep until she woke up on the next show, already a different movie.

Seon Woo asked Geum Jool to write and send a letter from him to Jang Il. The letter sounded just normally like an old friend asking how have you been doing, sorry that I couldn’t contact you for a long time because my condition was bad, and not to worry. But as soon as Geum Jool left for the post office, Seon Woo said, “Ah, I forgot to add the letter sentence. Jang Il, I remembered everything.”

That night Soo Mi came to Seon Woo’s place and found he already had his spirit up again. She said he should do a therapy and training in Seoul. She said they (she, her father and Geum Jool) couldn’t always be with him forever. He should started to learn how to be independent since he’s generally healthy and still young. Soo Mi said, “You can’t have what you want, you just need to do what you can. Then you will get the answer. For me, that’s what an art is.”

Then she said she and Geum Jool would accompany him to Seoul and stayed with him until he found a proper place. Then Seon Woo said, “Why don’t we stay with  Jang Il. He should have a space for us.”  Then Soo Mi called Jang Il right away. Jang Il had no other choice but to tell them that he’s more than welcome.

The three finally left for Seoul. When Seon Woo said he wanted to see the place for the last time when they’re already outside the gate, Soo Mi became his eyes. Telling him the colors, details of signs and writings on the wall and even the tree on the neighbor’s yard.

Arriving in Jang il’s place, Jang Il tried to act as an old best friend. He welcomed them warmly. Seon Woo preferred to sleep on coach since it would be easier for him to go to the bathroom.

At night, the nervous Jang Il couldn’t sleep and went to the kitchen. Seon Woo was still awake, too. Jang Il offered him a milk and asked if he really couldn’t remember anything. Seon Woo said no. Jang Il further said if he really didn’t remember what happened on the accident. Seon Woo said no. But then Seon Woo asked Jang Il a question, “When was the last time we met?” Jang Il suddenly looked tense and said, “We were drinking out that night.”

The next day Seon Woo came to this therapy place for the blind. Apparently, Ji Won had a work there too. She saw Seon Woo, but ignored him at first. It took a moment until she finally recognized the boy she kept the portrait of his face in her mind all this time. She went back and greeted Seon Woo, “Hi, don’t you remember me?” Seon Woo turned around, and Ji Won noticed that Seon Woo couldn’t see her. “Are you talking to me?” asked Seon Woo.

People really have to praise Uhm Tae Woong’s acting the last 2 episodes. Really…it required skills and experience and energy. He really did a good job for his character here. I know it’s a bit early, but if i can make a request to KBS, I want Uhm Tae Woong to be nominated for the Dae Sang Award this year :) .

The Equator Man Episode 4 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-4-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-4-summary/#respond Sun, 01 Apr 2012 12:54:48 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=20294 The adult actors are coming in on The Equator Man episode 4. I think the casting was excellent, they could find actors that quite look a like, so the connection between the youth version and the grown up version of the characters are smooth, especially between Shi Wan and Lee Joon Hyeok.

After throwing Seon Woo to the sea, Jang Il went a bit out of his mind. He was panic, between unbelieving his own crime and the lost of his only best friend. He burned the petition and then fled back to Seoul.

Meanwhile Soo Mi was looking for Seon Woo that day. She waited outside his house until dark, but the landlady finally told her that Seon Woo had not back yet since he’s out in the morning. Soo Mi sensed there’s something wrong with Seon Woo and it was indeed. For Soo Mi and the other friends, Seon Woo just went missing.

Seon Woo survived. He was stranded on the nearby beach, but his condition was so bad. No one found him there until a couple of days.

Meanwhile in Seoul, Jang Il’s life turned a bit a mess. He always got nervous and turned himself into alcohol. He went out with seniors to drink until he got drunk, and then went for another round of soju in the street bar. In the same street vendor, there was actually Han Ji Won eating ramyon, but Jang Il didn’t notice that. And he heard a news in the radio that a police found a body on the beach without any ID. He remembered Seon Woo and suddenly had an upset stomach and he went out to throw up. Ji Won couldn’t pretend she didn’t know Jang Il, so she helped him sober up by splashing water to his face.

Jang Il sober up and asked Ji Won how she got there. She told him he was too drunk and better go home. Jang Il asked Ji Won to accompany him sober up for awhile, but he fell asleep. When he woke up, Ji Won had gone. She just left him her scarf around his neck.

The police finally found Seon Woo’s body. He was still alive, but his condition was critical. He was dying. The police called Soo Mi’s father and Jang Il’s father. Soo Mi’s father worried that Jang Il’s father might kill Seon Woo, but Soo Mi convinced him that Seon Woo was in ICU and had so many people watched him.

Jang Il received the news from his father. The father said that Seon Woo might not survive the night, so Seon Woo had nothing to worry  about. Jang Il got the panic attack again that he even thought the security guard knocking his door was the police. The security handed him the package Seon Woo sent for him before, but it went to the wrong apartment so Jang Il received it late. But Jang Il never opened it. In trembling for fear, Jang Il said, “Seon Woo, let me get everything I wanted but live forever under the guilt of keeling you. Isn’t it enough, Seon Woo?”

Jang Il’s father knew what happened to Seon Woo was his son’s crime. He told Mr.Jin about not to worry about the petition and Seon Woo’s condition, but he pretended not knowing anything about Seon Woo’s accident.

But like Soo Mi’s father said that Kim Seon Woo was not an ordinary kid, he did survive the night and more days after that. Time went by long after that, but Seon Woo was still in his deep sleep. In his dream, he was in his father’s workshop having a nice bbq. Mr.Kim said he’s a man with a small dream. His dream was only to live happily with Seon Woo and later with his wife and children. While Seon Woo said his dream was much bigger than that. He wanted to travel the world, but the last place should be the equator. The weather could be crazy in equator countries, and Seon Woo thought it pretty much represented his character. Seon Woo was very thankful that his father adopted him when he was 9. He was very happy that Mr.Kim was his father.

But then his father suddenly disappeared, only his voice remained telling Seon Woo not to come along  with him and to just go back. The grown up Seon Woo on the sick bed finally got consciousness.

And the grown up Jang Il immediately received the news.

Soo Mi and her father were the only two people very loyal to Seon Woo. They kept coming to the hospital to take care of him. And as soon as Seon Woo gained his consciousness again, Soo Mi and his father were very happy and were there to welcome back him. But Seon Woo seemed not to remember either of them, or just ignored them. All he said was only “father..father…”

Meanwhile, the lives of both wealthy men Mr.Jin and Mr.Moon were getting more prosperous. Mr.Jin’s business was exapnding and he started to look for more information about Moon Tae Joo after hearing from his colleague that this man from Busan has been a talk among business men because he’s been successful in coal mining business. Unlike Mr.Jin who wished Seon Woo to never wake up again, Moon Tae Joo finally decided to search for his long lost son.

Seon Woo got an attack when his memory was back to Jang Il, about what his best friend had done to him. But it was unclear if he really forgot the incident or he decided to just really forget it. He also seemed to forget that his father had died, because when Soo Mi asked him if he remembered her, he said, “Yeah, Soo Mi…you’re very good at painting.” But then he said,”would you tell my father not to come here late?” Then Soo Mi asked him what actually happened to him that day on his accident, Seon Woo just said he didn’t know and told her to go home because it’s late, earlier Soo Mi told him it’s 12 o’clock. But Soo Mi told him it’s 12 pm, not 12am. Seon Woo said the room was still dark and asked her to turn on the light. Then both of them found out that Seon Woo had a problem with his eyesight.

Jang Il finally decided to come down to the hospital to check on Seon Woo. Soo Mi met him first, telling him that Seon Woo might not remember him.

Hearing the explanation from the doctor that his retina was badly damage because of the hard hit to the back of his head, Seon Woo’s eyes couldn’t not send information to his brain of the things he saw. In other words, he’s going blind. And Seon Woo couldn’t except that fact. He went panic and screaming and running here and there in the hospital, telling everyone to turn on all lights and to call the doctor.

Jang Il was already in the corridor, watching what Seon Woo was going through. He just stood there too shock to say anything, even when Seon Woo just walked pass him.

But then to his surprise, Seon Woo suddenly grabbed him, thinking that he was a doctor.

I have to admit the young actors did their job excellently. Both Lee Hyun Woo and Si Wan really express each character’s deep emotion convincingly. As for our beloved ajeossi, Uhm Tae Woong, it’s actually quite surprising that he had to start the second scene as Kim Seon Woo in such emotion-draining acting. Too bad this drama is competing with Rooftop Prince and The King 2 Hearts. If only it came earlier, it could get higher rating.

The Equator Man Episode 3 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/equator-man-episode-3-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/equator-man-episode-3-summary/#respond Sat, 31 Mar 2012 13:00:48 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=20255 The Equator Man episode 3 still tells the story during Seon Woo and Jang Il’s youth. In the end of previous episode, Seon Woo was ordered by the bad guys to find this man named Jun Taek and killed him. Since they threatened him to ruin Jang Il’s life if Seon Woo refused or failed the mission, he did go to the mob’s place, but threw away the small sword before going. As a real kick ass kid, Seon Woo fought with those men alone, and ended up badly beaten and locked up in a stranded container for a couple of days. In the same time, Jang Il was starting his new and prosperous life in Seoul, ready for his university orientation.

Mr.Choi, Soo Mi’s father, was trying to blackmailed Jang Il’s father and asked for about 50 million won. But he kept scraping one letter to another.

Soo Mi’s mood seemed to never be up again. She got upset of the hair stylish for giving her lousy curls and decided to go to Seoul to have her hair re-do. Surprisingly, her seat was right next to Jang Il’s. They both in silence the whole journey. Arriving at Seoul Station, Soo Mi’s got snatched and she lost her wallet. She asked Jang Il to lend her some money, but Jang il misunderstood her. He thought Soo Mi just planned the whole thing from the beginning and refused to lend her some money. Jang Il’s words were very insulting that Soo Mi said, “You will regret what you’ve done to me in the future.” Then in a very cold way, Jang Il replied, “Yeah, i’ll regret it later.” Soo Mi called her father to pick her up.

At home, Soo Mi was resting on their living room when she found her father’s black mail plan. She demanded her father to tell the truth and Mr.Choi had no choice but to share his story to his daughter. Soo Mi made her father promise not to tell anyone about it until his death bed.

The bad guys thought Seon Woo was dead, or at least dying. They put him in a corpse bag, but Seon Woo managed to flee. The bad guys tried to catch him again, but Seon Woo jumped off the bridge to the top of a running train. What a kid!

In Seoul, in the university, Jang Il got the same class with Han Ji Won even though they’re different department. The lecturer was speaking about photographic memory. Han Ji Won was late when her name was called, but she just went to the front and answer the question about “what do you know about photographic memory?”

Ji Won told her own experience the night she met Seon Woo. She said from that moment, she pictured that young man’s face in her mind and that’s her photographic memory. Ji Won said that young man was her type. Then the lecturer asked for another volunteer. Jang Il raised his hand and went to the front. It’s his turn to tell the class about the moment she fell for the girl who played the guitar singing his favorite song. If I had been the lecturer, I would have told them that they had not really answer my question. Come on…photographic memory, please, not your first love story.

Anyway, after the class, Jang Il approached Ji Won and told her that the girl in his story was him. He also asked her out to have dinner together, but Ji Won refused him telling that she had 3 part time jobs that she had no time for such an activity. Jang Il was a bit confused why a wealthy girl had to work that hard. She said because she needed the money. From that moment, Jang Il never push her, but approach her in a gentle way like giving her fruits and drink when he saw her in the canteen.

Back in the south, Seon Woo got some info from his friend that the police was actually suspicious about his father’s death but something made them stop digging further. And the friend also told him that a taxi driver who drove Seon Woo’s dad the day before he died told that the man went to Mr.Jin’s new residence to play card.

Seon Woo visited the construction site, knowing it’s Jang Il’s father’s work place. He asked him if he or the other workers saw his father around the place that day. Jang Il’s dad said no. Then on his way back, Seon Woo saw Mr.Jin’s picture and realized that Mr.Jin was one of the men in his father’s old picture.

Arriving at home, a phone rang. It’s from Tae Joo. That man looked shock when Seon Woo told him that his father, Kyeong Phil was already dead.

After finishing his university orientation, Jang Il went back to his hometown. The first person he visited was his best friend. Seon Woo said he’s going to work in a furniture factory next week. Jang Il persuaded him to forget about working and started studying with him in Seoul. He would support Seon Woo. But Seon Woo refused.

Seon Woo told Jang Il that he would send a petition to the police to make a further investigation of his father’s death. He said he’s going to ask Mr.Jin for help because he thought his father knew Mr. Jin and that wealthy man had many networks. Jang Il supported his idea. he even bought Seon Woo a nice suit and introduce Seon Woo to Mr.Jin. But that evil man said the picture was like other dozens of picture he always took with his workers, so he didn’t really remember his father.

Knowing that Seon Woo would send a petition to the police and Jang Il supported him, Mr. Jin was furious to Mr.Lee threatened him with Jang Il’s future and ordered him to make sure Seon Woo would never send the petition to the police. Unfortunately, Jang Il was right behind the door and heard all that conversation. He was in shock.

He came to Seon Woo’s place asking him to forget about his father’s death and go with to Seoul with him. The conversation ended up as an argument that Seon Woo thought Jang Il was out of mind and being non-supportive. Going back home, Jang Il made sure to his father that Seon Woo would never send the petition to the police tomorrow. Finally Jang Il’s dad knew that his son knew his sin and would even cover it for him, even though the victim was his own best friend’s father.

The next day, Seon Woo was ready to go to the police, but he visited his dad’s last place for awhile. Jang Il went there too. He kept trying to persuade Seon Woo not to send the petition and just leave everything behind and go  to Seoul with him. He even knelt before him. Jang Il’s insistence made Seon Woo suspicious if he knew something about his father’s death. Jang Il said he was responsible for his father’s death. Seon Woo then said, “If my father because of you, I would forgive you as a human. But that doesn’t stop me from finding out the way he died. Even if it wasn’t my father, but you who died, I would do the same thing. Because for me, the most important thing in life is the people that I love.”

Then Jang Il was really out of his mind. He hit the back of Seon Woo’s head twice. At first he was about to just left Seon Woo there on the cliff, but then he changed his mind. He dragged Seon Woo’s body and threw it off to the water. Jang Il killed his own best friend in life and he, himself, was in a great agony.

The Equator Man Episode 2 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-2-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/the-equator-man-episode-2-summary/#comments Sat, 24 Mar 2012 06:44:01 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=19950 The Equator Man episode 2 still tells what happened to Jang Il and Seon Woo’s lives in 15 years earlier. Last episode’s ending was Seon Woo found his father’s body hung on the tree.

Jang Il’s father was in the middle of his work in President Jin as usual. He was looking for his master when accidently saw President Jin killed Seun Woo’s father. He came in and check on the dead man. President Jin threaten Jang Il’s father using Jang Il’s future on the line. Jang Il’s father then made Seon Woo’s father looked like he’s dead from a suicide attempt. He even wrote the fake farewell letter.
Seon Woo’s father was actually still alive when Jang Il’s father was about to hang him, but we never knew what really happened in that moment. Worse thing for Seon Woo was that the police confirmed his father’s death as suicide.

At home, Jang Il’s dining table suddenly served a nice dish. His father even told him that Jang Il could go to good university in Seoul under the economic support from President Jin. Meanwhile Seon Woo was still mourning alone for his father’s death. Seon Woo still didn’t go to school and the school was having an event where students were performing and parents came. There Jang Il was enchanted by Han Ji Won, where she performed “Moon River” beautifully, singing and playing guitar.

Jang Il and his father was invited to President Jin’s house for the scholarship. There he met Han Ji Won again, who’s also about to meet President Jin. Then he met Soo Mi in the pharmacy. Jang Il finally said sorry for not coming on their date appointment.

Soo Mi’s father was a shaman and since he was the friend of Seon Woo’s father and Seon Woo was the friend of Soo Mi, he offered to help Seon Woo performing a ritual to find out what really happen to Seon Woo’s father. He did the ritual and suddenly Soo Mi’s father was possesed by Seon Woo’s dead father spirit. He’s showing the last moment of Seon Woo’s father and even said that the one who suffocate him to death was near. That time Jang Il’s father was there, but as soon as he realized the familiar scene, he left. Jang Il saw his father left. In the end of his possesion, Soo Mi’s father cried “I’m sorry that I can’t fulfil our promise.”

However, the truth was revealed in the flashback. Mr.Choi was almost making out with a lady in that woods when the lady rejected him. He drank soju and fell asleep. When he woke up, he recognized Seon Woo’s father on the ground. He witnessed the whole scene, but since it was dark and he didn’t really know Jang Il’s father, he remembered Jang Il’s dad’s wounded arm. So the shaman performance was only a fake, it’s his way to tell Seon Woo what really happened.

After pouring his father’s ashes to the sea, Seon Woo reread his father’s last letter. He recognized something wasn’t right. His father’s typing machine couldn’t make a perfect typing for the letters, while the last letter showed perfect letters. Seon Woo hurriedly came to Jang Il’s house to tell him his finding. Jang Il’s father was so nervous about it that on the next day he broke into Seon Woo’s house to steal back the letter he wrote. But Seon Woo caught him there. Jang Il’s father’s excuse was because he worried about Seon Woo and decided to cook for him.

President Jin ordered his man to find all information about Kim Kyeong Phil (Seon Woo’s dad) and his son. Meanwhile in the capital city, a man received a letter from Kim Yeong Phil. This business man’ name is Moon Tae Joo. Apparently, Seon Woo’s father himself wasn’t really sure whether Seon Woo was Jin No shik’s son or Moon Tae Joo’s son, because in the letter to Tae Joo, he asked the question.

Jang Il read the news in the newspaper that Han Ji Won, President Han’s daughter, was accepted in Korea University. Jang Il was happy that he would go to the same university with her.

At home, Seon Woo was looking for the letter, which he realized had gone. But when he was searching here and there, he found a photograph hidden in the drawer. The picture showed his father with two other men: President Jin and President Moon.

Jang Il’s father was celebrating Jang Il’s acceptance to Korea University in his restaurant. Soo Mi’s father was eating there with his friend when he recognized the scar in Jang Il’s father’s arm and realized he’s the murder. The worse was when he found out that Seon Woo and Jang Il were best friends. Jang Il made a promise to Seon Woo that as soon as he became a prosecutor, he would help Seon Woo to reveal the truth about his father’s death. Mr.choi and and Mr.Lee heard that all. Mr.Choi was frustrated about the truth he knew.

Seon Woo was on his way back home alone when some people kidnapped him. The bad guy wanted Seon Woo to kill someone, otherwise they’re going to ruin Jang Il and his father’s life.

The Equator Man Episode 1 Summary https://kdramachoa.com/equator-man-episode-1-summary/ https://kdramachoa.com/equator-man-episode-1-summary/#comments Fri, 23 Mar 2012 09:45:18 +0000 http://kdramachoa.com/?p=19913 Equator Man has a very sad premise. There’s only one evil character that ruins the lives of almost all other characters in this drama. And I bet this drama is gonna be heart-wrecking, full of ambition, revenge and bitter story of lives.

Let’s start our summary.

Lee Jang Il is a wounded person, not physically, but pyschologically. One day, in an equator country, Lee Jang Il came to kill this one wealthy man, President Jin No Shik. It seemed that President Jin had ruined Jang Il’s life very badly that he could not forgive him. Jang Il had a gun and he was ready to point it at President Jin. But Kim Seon Woo came to stop him.

The story flash back to 15 years earlier, when both Jang Il and Seon Woo still in study in the same class in high school. Jang Il was the top student in his class, while Seon Woo was best known as a little punk in his area. Even though the situation was like in the school, in life, Lee Jang Il’s life was harder than Kim Seon Woo’s.

Jang Il had to deal with ganster because of his father’s debt. While Seon Woo live a humble but happy life with his father. One night, Seon Woo’s father called a wealthy man, President Jin No Shik. He called to tell him that his dead fiancee bore a child and the child lived. But President Jin looked unhappy with the news. He told Seon Woo’s father not to speak through phone.

One day, Seon Woo witnessed Jang Il’s father was about to be tortured in front of Jang Il’s very eyes. Seon Woo couldn’t help himself to fight those gangster. Seon Woo was fighting the men all by himself at first, but Jang Il eventually helped him out. They started to become friends since then.

Jang Il told Seon Woo that he would be a prosecutor in the future so that he could drag those kind of bad guys to the jail. He was the best student in the class, Seon Woo thought that would be no problem for Lee Jang Il. But then Jang Il suddenly fainted after the fight. Waking up in the hosptial and found out that Seon Woo stayed with him all night, Jang Il was so touched.

But Seon Woo got a lot of trouble with his teacher at school. The teacher heard the news about he was fighting with gangster the night before. His situation was so bad that it made his father had to kneel before the teacher. Seon Woo didn’t mention anything about Jang Il nor the reason why he was fighting.

Seon Woo got a detention, but Jang Il requested the teacher to help Seon Woo studying. Jang Il tried so hard to make Seon Woo study. And in return, Seon Woo taught Jang Il some fighting techniques.

Han Jin Won overheard her father’s conversation with President Jin and the President treated him bad. This girl seemed like holding a great anger towards President Jin that she went out and crash his car’s front window. She was surprise when finding out there’s Seon Woo hiding in the car. Han Ji Won helped Seon Woo by telling wrong information to some men who seek him.

In one rainy day, Jang Il was surprise by a girl who was suddenly came under his umbrella because she didn’t have any umbrella. They walked together and Jang Il finally gave her his umbrella.Jang Il just found his first love.

The girl’s name was Choi Soo Mi. she’s an art school student and very good in painting. She made a skecth of Jang Il under the umbrella and gave it to him as a present.Later on Jang Il found out that Soo Mi was Seon Woo’s old friend and he even knew her father well.
Seeing Soo Mi’s father and her life and reminding himself about his future ambition to be a prosecutor, Jang Il ended up stood Soo Mi up on their date appointment. Soo Mi later knew that Jang Il was Seon Woo’s friend and he was hanging out with him neglecting their date, no explanation at all from Jang Il.

Seon Woo’s father suffered from a cancer. He told Seon Woo and the news just a big slap for Seon Woo. Then his father met President Jin to tell him about his son and asked to help Seon Woo’s life, but President Jin just resent the fact. He didn’t even want to admit that Seon Woo was his son. They ended up in a fight and President Jin killed Seon Woo’s father. Unfortunately, he realized that Jang Il father, who worked for him, witnessed it all.

It was his birthday and Seon Woo was in a hurry to meet his father because they had an appointment. But he suddenly bumped into something that hung on the tree. It turned out to be his father’s body.

This spring drama war is really driving me crazy. It’s a dilemma which channel should I turn on Wednesday and Thursday night, 9.55 pm (Seoul time). I mean, choosing between Ha Ji Won + Lee Seung Gi and Uhm Tae Woong?? It’s a very difficult choice. Although I decided to watch live “The King 2Hearts”, I can’t let myself leaving Uhm Tae Woong’s drama behind. So here I am trying my best to cover both dramas.
