The Birth of a Rich – Korean Drama Choa https://kdramachoa.com Liking Korean Drama, Music, and Movie Fri, 31 Dec 2010 18:40:49 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Most Memorable of 2010 Drama https://kdramachoa.com/most-memorable-of-2010-drama/ https://kdramachoa.com/most-memorable-of-2010-drama/#respond Fri, 31 Dec 2010 18:36:11 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=5319 For all the feast, the cheers, the fireworks, and the cold nights…HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!!

2010 had been a memorable year for me because I started this blog ;) . Dramas and movies have been giving a big influence in my life because basically I love stories and writing is more than just a hobby for me…I can say that writing IS my life. Korean drama in particular has been my number 1 TV entertainment ever since I was still an innocent girl :p . But I have to admit that “Cinderella’s Sister” was my turning point for two reasons: 1. Moon Geun Yeong’s character, Gu Eun Jo, touched my heart in a complicated way (that I found hard to explain) just like my favourite antagonist-female-leading characters: the ambitious Scarlett O’Hara from the classic “Gone with the Wind” (by Margaret Mitchell) and the avengious Lu Yi Ping from “Yan Yu Meng Meng” or “Romance in the Rain” (by Qiong Yao). 2. This drama was aired during the “complicated” moment of my life. I just came home and watched “Cinderella’s Sister” and a thought just popped up in my head: “Why don’t I start writing something about Korean drama? Why don’t I start it with “Cinderella’s Sister” ?” So I called my bestfriends, asked them to help me, then I sat in front of my laptop and started writing.

Therefore, “Cinderella’s Sister”, despite my disappointment of the drama in the end, is my most memorable drama of 2010.

Gu Eun Jo was memorable because of her strong character and just as the explanation I said earlier.

However, besides “Cinderella’s Sister”, I had some other “Memorable” categories from 2010 dramas:

1. Favourite Come Back: actress Chae Rim in “Oh! My Lady”

I always like Chae Rim ever since “All About Eve.” Though this drama reminded me so much of her 2007’s “Dalja’s Spring”, I just love her come back as Yoo Kae Hwa. It could be Kang Ji Hwan in “Coffee House”, but I like Chae Rim more :p

2. Favourite Gang: the quartet in “SungKyunKwan Scandal”

I really love this drama, the famous quartet are definitely my favourite gang! Better than “Boys Before Flower”. My biggest regret was of course because I didn’t manage to write about it. All the cute nicknames, the love triangle, the unforgetable Gu Yeong Ha, the secret missions, the JYJ’s soundtrack….everything!

3. Favourite Buzzwords: “Na Bu Tae Hee yah Bu Tae Hee..!” [so sorry for Gu Yeong Ha… ;)]

4. Most Amusing Drama(s): I can’t decide between “Secret Agent Miss Oh” and “Secret Garden”

These two dramas never failed to make me laugh…as simple as that.

5. Disturbingly Most Favourite Male Character: Kim Joo Won from “Secret Garden”

I thought it was gonna be Han Do Hoon, but Kim Joo Won character is really…really…I’m speechless

6. Most Lovable Small Screen Actor: Lee Seung Gi

7. Most Lovable Small Screen Actress: Moon Geun Yeong

8. The “Whoaa” Drama: “Baker King, Kim Tak Gu”

I wasn’t interested at all in this drama at first, but it turned out to be quite interesting. However, what made me made a “whoaa” of this drama was its rating that hit 50% something! That’s very much something considering the tough competition in Korean drama industry.

9. The Most Played Drama OST:

I think it should be Cinderella’s Sister’s “The Calling Out”. I dunno why, I just love to listen to it.

10. The Most Disappointing Drama: “Marry Me, Mary!”

I’m still working on the last three episodes. Sorry for being so late. It’s because I was so reluctant to watch them…but I keep on going, no worry.

Favorite Character from “Birth of a Rich” https://kdramachoa.com/favorite-character-from-birth-of-a-rich/ https://kdramachoa.com/favorite-character-from-birth-of-a-rich/#respond Mon, 14 Jun 2010 16:37:58 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=695 It’s definitely Bu Tae Hee! She’s just soooo hilarious. She’s a very pretty girl, wealthy yes…but not a brainy like Lee Shin Mee. She showed up as an antagonist at the beginning but as time went by, she became more lovable in her own way. Her determination of keeping her body shape represents many girls out there with the same problem. Her sincere love for Chu Wun Seok is so touching. And her sincere feeling for Choi Seok Bong was very surprising that it reveals the inner heart of Bu Tae Hee.

I always burst in laughter whenever she screams:

“Na Bu Tae Hee ya, Bu Tae Hee!!” (I’m Bu Tae Hee, Bu Tae Hee!!)

Birth of a Rich Episode 1 https://kdramachoa.com/birth-of-a-rich-episode-1/ https://kdramachoa.com/birth-of-a-rich-episode-1/#respond Tue, 23 Mar 2010 03:43:10 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=215

Well, I’m not gonna say this is a hit drama with its 1st episode. It started with a post-one-night-stand event between two complete strangers. They were completely drunk. So the next day they woke up and saw a big news about an airplane crash. The man said he should’ve been in that plane. While the woman felt ashamed, the man just looked pleased. He even surprisingly thanked her for saving his life! Then he gave her two things: a “Great Gatsby” novel with his phone number at the last page and a necklace. The thing that annoyed me very much was that they didn’t even really share names.

The woman finally found out that she’s carrying a child. She was about to tell this news to that guy, but you know…drama! Incidents didn’t let them contact each other for the rest of their lives. Times passed, the boy has grown to be young man. He’s no rich, but even in his most difficult life, he always prepared himself as a billionaire man’s heir. He’s a very smart and talented man. Speak English well, learned all the high society manner, is able to play music instruments…he just has the look, the brain, the manner, everything you may ask from a man, but only one thing: money.

He works as a bell boy in a high class hotel owned by Oh Seung Co. The only reason he sticks in there is the big opportunity to meet all the Korean top CEO’s and billionaires who often spend nights there in a hope to finally find his father.

Then faith drags him to meet the Oh Seung CEO, Lee Shin Mi, the ‘monster woman’ whom all the hotel staffs wish to make a distance with. No one dares to volunteer for the job to be in charge for her room service even though the manager, Mr. Bullgdog, promised to double up the payment. However, the dare devil Choi Seok Bong decided to take this job.

What I like the most about this drama is its success to make me laugh quite many times in this 1st episode. So I think I’m gonna continue on watching.

The Birth of a Rich https://kdramachoa.com/the-birth-of-a-rich/ https://kdramachoa.com/the-birth-of-a-rich/#comments Mon, 22 Mar 2010 12:52:37 +0000 http://www.kdramachoa.com/?p=184

I watch this drama because it’s quite funny. It is not comedy nor romantic comedy as well, but i found this drama amusing. So I guess I better call it amusing drama.

This drama is about Choi Seok Bong’s determination in finding his Billionaire birth father, whom he never saw. Well, frankly I have to say that the premise of this drama is not really promising as a story. I mean, in real life, how can someone be sure that he is a son of a Billionaire man just because his late mother said so? And what’s the proof of all these? Just a single necklace! Yes, it’s a particular necklace of a particular sign, but the late mother didn’t even know what the name of a man who had slept with her in a one-night-stand event was. That man didn’t even know this woman had bore him a son. Too fictional to be true…

However, this drama is still entertaining. I like many characters in this drama, some are very hilarious that always make me laugh. Choi Seok Bong’s character is played very well by Ji Hyeon Woo. He’s the man of his words, very smart, determine, talented, and love his comb and necklace very very much. Lee Shin Mi’s character is played by actress Lee Bo Yeong. She’s the heiress of Oh Seong Group, very rich but very stingy. She’s actually a kind heart woman, but every time things turn into bussiness, she’s THE superwoman that one’s wish the least to deal with. Very smart, but very very strict. Meeting Choi Seok Bong was a great hush in her life. And then there’s the hilarious but gorgeous like goddess Bu Tae Hi. This unique character of Bu Ho Group’s heiress is played by Lee Shi Yeong. She’s my favourite character. And then Choo Woon Seok, the prince charming style character played by Nam Goong Min. I don’t like his character at first, but when I found out that this prince charming has an inner evilness, I found it interesting.

This drama, also known as “Becoming Billionaire” was aired in KBS March 1st 2010 to May 4th 2010, replacing “God of Study”. It finished on episode 20 with a happy ending. Oops, spoiler :D
