Ready for Joo Won and Joo Sang Wook’s Next KBS Drama, “Good Doctor?”
Joo Won is back! Joo Sang Wook is back! All the girls may cheers But the boys may cheers as well. Our lovely “princess”, Moon Chae Won is also back! If there’re among you who are the fans of the pretty actress Kim Min Seo, you may join the excitement. All these great names will be on the same frame soon, on the next KBS Monday-Tuesday drama, “Good Doctor” to replace “Shark” or “Orpheus: Don’t Look Back” that ended tonight.
The main character here, Park Shi On played by Joo Won, is a man with Savant Syndrome. It’s different from “regular” autism. Wikipedia explains that savant syndrome is “a condition in which a person with serious mental disabilities, including autistic disorder, demonstrates profound and prodigious capacities or abilities far in excess of what would be considered normal.” This savant syndrome guy, Shi On, experienced a terrible incident when he was so young that cost his big brother’s life. We can see that event on the third teaser. As the little Shi On watched his brother died right before his eyes, he believed his brother went to heaven. The little Shi On said, “If I become a doctor, can I not go to heaven (die)?” So his bad trauma had turned him kind of freeze in his childhood mental, but even so, he wants to give the future to other children. And behind his lack of so many things that others have, Shi On has one incredible gift that ordinary person doesn’t: a brilliant mind. Despite his condition, Shi On determines to be a good pediatric surgeon. And along his journey to be a good doctor, he will encounter a love interest, Cha Yoon Seo played by Moon Chae Won, and a tough challenge and competition with the best pediatric surgeon around, Kim Do Han played by Joo Sang Wook.
So it’s pretty much gonna be Won-Won couple, and Joo-Joo rivalry? sort of (Joo Won’s surname is Moon, though).
The posters are out, as well as the teasers. “Good Doctor” will start its first broadcast next week, August 5. And after a little break from writing post here (well, I’m kind of sick of the current “sageuk” trend and just want to feel refresh when I decide to come back), I think I’ll take this project. But I’m sorry to say that I cannot provide quick summary as my schedule is getting tighter. I have a good hope in this drama.
I’m just so excited! Are you??
